There are no locked gates, no fences to climb, it is a good place to be. Officially it opens at 7am, this is when we began our walk, but people had also set off at sunrise and were walking down as we went up, this is probably a better tactic. The views at the top are amazing and definitely worth it! Take plenty of sun lotion and at least two large bottles of water each I would say. If it’s raining simply cancel the top half, it would be too dangerous, you could still negotiate the simple first half though and enjoy the view. Coming down is a little harder at first but again, take it slow and ‘Crab’ down and you will be fine. There are conflicting stories on here, some say it is ‘Easy’ whilst others say it is ‘Extreme’ I would say the first part is indeed easy and the second part probably intermediate, yes there is climbing and arms and legs are required, but as long as the weather is fine it is not too strenuous if you have an average fitness level. The route is not initially obvious, but go through the red gate (Left) then follow the larger path veering right (Do not come back on yourself for the first part of the walk) then it is extremely obvious you are heading in the correct direction as you will come to some concrete car tracks, one way up and one way down from there on. The car park is signposted, we entered in the south east corner and the sign says ‘1.5km to Le Morne trail’ sure enough a short car drive down the track and we came to a car park.
